Amps to kVA Calculator Instructions
Choose the phase of power, enter the current in amps, the voltage in volts and press the Calculate button to get the apparent power in kilovolt-VA.
Amps to kVA Calculator
Variables
kVA is the kilo volt amperes (kilo-volt-amperes).
I is the total current (amps).
V is the total voltage (volts).
Formula
kVA = I * V / 1000
In three-phase systems, the voltage and current are distributed across three separate conductors, each offset by 120 degrees. In three-phase system, you use the formula involving the square root of 3 (approximately 1.732) to account for how the phases overlap and add together. This results in the higher kVA value compared to single-phase for the same amps and volts.
